Hey team, my name is Damo, I’m a dirty old diesel fitter / grubby subby…

I’ve been working in the mining industry for 6 years now, from central Queensland Mt Isa region down to the Bowen basin coal mines, across to the Pilbara and back again. Every roster from 7/7 all the way up to 3 months on 1 month off, spent weeks isolating in WA every time I flew in during covid and the hard borders.

I’ve owe a lot to mining in the way it’s been able to set my life up. It’s also cost a lot in the way of missing some pretty important things in life with friends and family. I believe in that time I’ve learnt a fair bit on how to deal with being on mine sites, the mental challenges as well as trying to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.
